Ms. Young has been with the firm since completing a clerkship with the New York State Supreme Court,
Appellate Division in 1997. While at the Third Department, she evaluated cases in virtually every area
of state law and became familiar with appellate practice in general. As a result of this experience,
she brings a unique perspective into trial and appellate level judicial processes. Ms. Young practices
primarily in the areas of medical malpractice defense, professional misconduct, and the defense 42 USC
§1983 actions. Ms. Young also handles mental health proceedings and advises many mental health professionals
on issues involving mental health law. Ms. Young also serves as the Attorney to the Town of Hoosick and
advises the Town on a number of legal issues.
Ms. Young has appeared and argued before the United States District Court of Appeals, Second Circuit, the
New York State Court of Appeals and the New York State Supreme Court, Second and Third Departments. She has
won significant cases under the No-Fault law, in the area of medical malpractice defense and in the defense
of deliberate indifference claims at both the appellate and trial level. (Please see the "Noteworthy Cases"

Ms. Young has also lectured on a variety of topics and has provided guidance to medical professionals in a
number of areas. Ms. Young frequently assists physicians in navigating licensure issues and assisting
physicians who have been disciplined by the New York State Office of Professional Medical Conduct.
Ms. Young is active in the Town of Schodack Republican Club, currently serving as their Corresponding
Secretary and has served for many years on their Board of Directors. She has also served as Special Counsel
to the Town of Schodack.
Ms. Young is also Councilperson in the Town of Schodack, having been elected to a four-year term in 2005 and
re-elected to a second term in 2009. In that position, she has worked to improve Town services, control municipal
spending and keeping government open and honest.
She is admitted to practice in New York State and the United States District Courts for the Northern, Western
and Southern Districts of New York. Ms. Young is also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme
Court. She is a member of the Albany County Bar Association, the Rensselaer County Bar Association and the New
York State Bar Association, Health Law Section. Ms. Young has been selected for inclusion in the Super Lawyers
Upstate Edition and Super Lawyers Corporate Edition for Medical Malpractice.
She presently resides in the Town of Schodack with her husband Christopher, and her children Samuel and Gabriel
and Charlotte Lucarelli.
